Lottery Commission Approves Revised
Application and Review Procedures for
South Central and Northeast Gaming Zones
TOPEKA, KAN. – At its regular monthly meeting today in Topeka, the Kansas Lottery Commission approved the Revised Application and Review Procedures for Lottery Gaming Facility management contracts in the South Central Gaming Zone and the Northeast Gaming Zone. The action allows for the re-opening of bids in both zones.
The deadline for applications in the South Central and Northeast zones will be 90 days following the publication of the Revised Application and Review Procedures in the Kansas Register. Publication of the Revised Application and Review Procedures for both zones is currently scheduled for January 1, 2009, which would make April 1, 2009 the deadline for applications to be received.
The Lottery Commission is re-opening bids following the withdrawal of Sumner Gaming Joint Venture, L.C. (Harrah’s) from consideration for a gaming license in the South Central Gaming Zone on November 17, and the withdrawal of Kansas Entertainment, LLC (Hard Rock) from consideration for a gaming license in the Northeast Gaming Zone on December 5.
In the Southeast Gaming Zone, Penn National Gaming, Inc. withdrew its application September 11. Bids have already been reopened in the Southeast zone, with a deadline of January 21, 2009 for applications to be received.
The Revised Application and Review Procedures for the Southeast, South Central and Northeast zones are posted on the Kansas Lottery website, along with the Revised Application for Lottery Gaming Facility Manager.
The next regular meeting of the Kansas Lottery Commission is a teleconference meeting scheduled for January 14, 2009, at 11:15 a.m. in the Lottery headquarters building at 128 N. Kansas Avenue in Topeka, Kansas.
