Application Deadline in Southeast Gaming Zone Extended to July 20

TOPEKA, KAN. – The deadline for applications to be filed for Lottery Gaming Facility manager in the Southeast Gaming Zone was 5:00 p.m. April 21, 2009. No applications were received by the Kansas Lottery. Therefore, the deadline for applications has automatically been extended for an additional period of 90 days to July 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m.

The Kansas Lottery Commission voted on April 15 to automatically extend the deadline if no applications were received by the April 21 deadline. This is the second time the Lottery has extended the deadline by 90 days.

Applications were re-opened after Penn National Gaming, Inc., the sole applicant in the zone, withdrew its proposal to build a hotel and casino complex in Cherokee County. The Southeast Gaming Zone consists of Crawford and Cherokee counties, and a Lottery Gaming Facility could be proposed for either county.
