Valley Center Resident Has Winning Wednesday
TOPEKA, KAN. – Last Wednesday after finishing his shift at work, Brandon Ivey stopped at a local liquor store to cash in a $1 Fabulous 50s instant scratch ticket on which he won $50. Later that evening, the Valley Center resident went back to the store and purchased two $10 Joker’s Wild instant scratch tickets, plus a $1 each of Powerball, Super Kansas Cash, and 2by2 tickets. He couldn’t believe his good fortune when he won a $5,000 cash prize on the second $10 Joker’s Wild instant scratch ticket he played, and a $100 cash prize on the 2by2 ticket.
“I started to scratch the Joker’s Wild ticket in the store,” explained Ivey. “When I kept winning, I decided to take my ticket home and have my wife Valerie finish playing the game. Before she started scratching the ticket, it looked like we had won $750. We were both excited when it turned out to be a $5,000 winner.”
According to Ivey, he likes to play a variety of lottery games every week.
“We’ve had good luck this year,” said Ivey. “We won a $400 cash prize last February playing a $1 instant scratch ticket called 2008. Plus all the smaller prizes we’ve won.”
Ivey, who works for Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, is also a storm chaser and meteorologist for The Storm Report (www.thestormreport.com). Ivey and his wife Valerie, who have two children, plan to use a portion of their winnings to purchase equipment for Ivey’s storm photography and storm chasing.
The winning ticket was purchased at Valley Liquor, located at 213 S. Meridian in Valley Center.
