Lottery Player Runs into Good Luck on the Road

TOPEKA, KAN. – An Independence, Mo. woman who was traveling to Leavenworth yesterday ran into some unexpected good luck along the way.

Penny Carlson, 44, stopped at a convenience store in Lansing to purchase lottery tickets. The Super 6’s instant game looked good to her, so she bought six of the $1 tickets.

“I thought I was going to have an anxiety attack!” exclaimed Carlson, explaining her reaction after one of her tickets revealed a $6,000 top prize. “I really didn’t believe it.”

Carlson says she went on to Leavenworth, completed her business, and stopped at the same Lansing convenience store on her way home.

“When I went back to the store, I picked up a $5 ticket and won another $100,” Carlson said. “Isn’t that amazing?”

Carlson, who is married with three teenage children, plans to pay bills and buy a new digital camera with her winnings.

“I’m a faithful Kansas Lottery player now,” Carlson said. “And I also have a favorite store.”

Carlson purchased her lucky tickets at Woods Mini Mart, located at 109 4H Road in Lansing.
