Haysville Resident Wins $5,000 Cash Prize
TOPEKA, KAN. – According the Ryan Hublick, he’s an avid Lottery player who likes to play scratch tickets almost every day. While on his lunch break Wednesday, the Haysville resident purchased a $5 Super Red Hot Crossword instant scratch ticket, winning a $5,000 cash prize.
“When I walked into the store, I had $2 in my pocket,” said Hublick. “I bought two $1 scratch tickets and won $3. I cashed those tickets in for a $2 game and a $1 game. I won a total of $4 on those tickets. After scrounging up a dollar’s worth of change, I cashed in the $4 and bought a $5 Crossword ticket. I can’t believe I won $5,000 on a ticket I bought with mostly pennies.”
Hublick was so excited about his win, he drove a few blocks to his wife’s work to show her the winning ticket.
“When I showed my wife Patti the ticket, she couldn’t believe it,” said Hublick.
“He’s so lucky,” smiled Patti. “He won $10,000 on a scratch ticket a year ago. When he showed me the $5,000 winner, I couldn’t believe he won again. I never have that kind of luck.”
The Hublicks, who have been married 17 years, have two teenage children. They plan to use their winnings toward home improvements.
The winning ticket was purchased at QuikTrip 384R, located at 2510 W. Pawnee St. in Wichita.
