Kincaid Resident has “Red Hot” Luck – Wins Third Big Prize!
TOPEKA, KAN. – The best way to describe Betsie Badders’ luck when playing Super Red Hot Crossword is “red hot!” The Kincaid resident, who claimed her third big prize today at Lottery headquarters, won a $50,000 top prize playing the $5 game last October and a few months later won a $1,000 cash prize. This time she claimed a $5,000 cash prize!
“It’s kind of hard to believe,” said Badders. “When I realized I’d won, I thought this can’t be happening again. I kept checking and rechecking my ticket. I asked my in-laws to check my ticket too, just to make sure I wasn’t seeing things.”
After calling a few friends and family members to share the good news, Badders decided to make a few copies of her winning ticket.
“Since I can make copies at home, I decided to leave my winning ticket in the printer,” said Badders. “I figured that would make a good hiding place. Who would think to look there?”
Badders, who has paid off bills with her earlier wins, is undecided how she’ll spend her most recent prize winnings.
“I’ve been collecting piggy banks for my two grandsons,” explained Badders. “Once one is filled up, I start a new one. I’d like to help them save for college or a down payment on a car someday. I might save some of my winnings for them.”
The winning ticket was purchased at E-Z Start, located at 420 S. Maple in Garnett.
