Topeka Resident Wins $10,000 Playing Hot Lotto!
TOPEKA, KAN. – Every Wednesday and Saturday, Timothy Tollefson tries his luck playing Hot Lotto, Powerball and Super Kansas Cash. After “buying tickets for years,” it has finally paid off. The Topeka resident matched the first five Hot Lotto numbers in the September 30 drawing, winning a $10,000 cash prize!
“Finally, I won!” said Tollefson when claiming his prize. “Wednesday evening, I went to the store to check my tickets from Saturday night’s drawing. I didn’t have any winners, so I bought more for that night’s drawing. The next day, I checked my tickets and realized I’d won $10,000. I couldn’t believe it.”
Tollefson’s winning ticket was a $2 Quik Pick. He purchased his winning ticket at Wanamaker Amoco, located at 5977 SW 29th in Topeka.
Even after winning a large prize, Tollefson says he plans to keep trying for a jackpot.
“Double heck yes, I plan to keep playing!” said Tollefson. “Maybe I’ll win a jackpot.”
Tollefson and his wife Carole, who have been married 39 years, have four children and three grandchildren. They plan to save some of their prize money. The rest will go towards their daughter’s wedding.
