Simpson Resident Takes “Job” Serious – Wins $20,047 Playing Keno
TOPEKA, KAN. – When Becky Heidrick told her husband Brad on Tuesday that it was his job to win the 8-Spot Keno progressive jackpot, he took the job serious. The next day when a friend suggested they go to a local bar and grill to play Keno and have a drink, Brad took him up on it. Once at the bar and grill, the Simpson resident purchased a $5 8-Spot Keno ticket, winning a $10,000 top prize plus the progressive jackpot of $10,024, bringing his total winning to $20,047!
“When all my numbers came up, I danced around the bar,” said Heidrick.
After calming down, Heidrick called Becky to share the good news.
“I was still at work when he called,” explained Becky. “When he told me he’d won, I didn’t believe him. He’s always joking around. I told him if he was lying, I was going to kill him.”
To convince Becky, Heidrick had the owner of the bar get on the phone.
“When she said it was true, I explained to her that I’d told Brad the day before that it was his job to win,” laughed Becky. “Thank goodness he went to the bar that day.”
The Heidricks, who have been married 18 years, have two children. They plan to pay bills with their prize money.
The winning ticket was purchased at Trappers Bar & Grill, located at 304 S. Elkhorn in Simpson.
