Recent Winners!

Kyle and Michelle Wright of Kansas City, Kansas were facing a classic dinner time dilemma: Where are we getting pizza? Kyle preferred place A, and one of the kids really wanted to go to place B. Ultimately, Michelle made the call for a neutral pizza site in Shawnee. 

This choice sent the Wright family on a trip that would ultimately lead to a $100,000 instant win on a $10 crossword ticket! 

“I usually play a little every day, and if I win anything I just use that to keep playing for a while,” said Kyle Wright. “I decided to stop after dinner at a nearby store and I purchased two $10 crosswords for us to play like we always do.” 

Kyle scratched off the first ticket and discovered a $20 winning ticket! “He won on his ticket, so I just assumed the next one wouldn’t win anything,” Wright said with a laugh. “She kept scratching off letters and we started counting ‘$500 winner! Wait, $1,000 winner’ and so on until we got to a $10,000 ticket.” 

The couple was ecstatic for their five-digit win, until Michelle discovered a word on the bottom left of the ticket that they had missed. That last word meant the ticket was a $100,000 winner! 

The only problem was the timing. It was Friday night before Memorial Day, so the winners had to wait all weekend before they could come claim their prize after the holiday. 

“We probably checked the ticket 20 times a day waiting for Tuesday to roll around,” Wright added. The couple says they plan to put the money into savings right now and think about their options before spending much.  

The winning ticket was sold at Surf N Go IV at 7154 Renner Road in Shawnee. There are still three top prizes, as well as thousands in other prizes, left in the $100,000 crossword instant game.
