About the Lottery:  In November of 1986, 64 percent of Kansas voters approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the creation of a state lottery.  The Kansas Legislature passed the "Kansas Lottery Act" in 1987, and the Kansas Lottery was established. The mission of the Kansas Lottery is to produce the maximum amount of revenue possible for the State of Kansas while ensuring the integrity of all games. 

The Kansas Lottery sells $1, $2, $3, $5, $10, $20 and $30 scratch tickets and $1 and $2 instant pull tab games. In addition, Kansas Lottery players enjoy Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto America, Lucky for Life, Super Kansas Cash, Pick 3, 2by2, Keno, Racetrax, and Holiday Millionaire Raffle draw games. Kansas Lottery products are sold at approximately 1,750 retail locations.

The Kansas Expanded Lottery Act, enacted in 2007, authorized the Kansas Lottery to be the owner/operator of casino gaming in four Kansas gaming zones.  Boot Hill Casino & Resort in Dodge City; Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane; Hollywood Casino at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City; and the Kansas Crossing Casino and Hotel in Pittsburg.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary: 

Lottery Gaming Facility Analyst position located at the Boot Hill Casino in Dodge City, KS.

This position is responsible for the auditing and oversight of gaming facility operations that relate primarily to the certification of transferred revenues and compliance with the negotiated contract between the Lottery and the gaming facility as specified by the Kansas Expanded Lottery Act (KELA).  Incumbent performs highly specialized work analyzing, auditing, and/or investigating gaming facility financial transactions and related activities. Employee reviews and analyzes gaming facility activities to ensure accurate financial transfers and compliance with the KELA and related gaming facility contracts.  Serves as on-site Lottery representative, first point of contact, and liaison.  Investigates and analyzes inconsistencies and potential KELA violation.  Work is completed with great deal of latitude. Employee follows industry accepted guidelines in proper investigation and auditing methods. Communications are primarily via email and/or phone. Some assignments may be given verbally or may be self-generated based on circumstances and need.  Work is reviewed for results achieved. Annual Salary - $43,950.40  

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Verification and reconciliation of table game revenue.
  • Inspection and verification of slot machine revenue.
  • Monitor, inspect, and audit electronic gaming device records.
  • Monitors and audits players club activity
  • Investigative compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent required.  Bachelor’s degree in accounting/auditing, business administration or economics preferred.  Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
  • Experience:  Experience in examining internal work processes, financial/operational records, accuracy of records, compliance.
  • Training:  Education or training on electronic gaming devices and/or auditing in a casino environment preferred.  Coursework/training in computerized accounting and auditing.
  • Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:  
  • Must pass extensive background prior to hire and subject to periodic updates.
  • Subject to tax clearance upon hire and periodic updates.
  • Employees of the Kansas Lottery and designated family members and other persons who reside in the same residence are subject to the provisions of the Kansas Lottery Act, K.S.A. 74-8701 et seq, and the Kansas Expanded Lottery Act, K.S.A. 74-8733 et seq.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age and work-authorized.
  • Must complete Form I-9 upon hire and update and/or re-verify as required.
  • By law, any person who holds or has held a license with the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission may not be employed by the Kansas Lottery within five years after last holding such license.
