About the Lottery:  In November of 1986, 64 percent of Kansas voters approved a constitutional amendment authorizing the creation of a state lottery.  The Kansas Legislature passed the "Kansas Lottery Act" in 1987, and the Kansas Lottery was established. The mission of the Kansas Lottery is to produce the maximum amount of revenue possible for the State of Kansas while ensuring the integrity of all games. 

The Kansas Lottery sells $1, $2, $3, $5, $10, $20 and $30 scratch tickets and $1 and $2 instant pull tab games. In addition, Kansas Lottery players enjoy Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto America, Lucky for Life, Super Kansas Cash, Pick 3, 2by2, Keno, Racetrax, and Holiday Millionaire Raffle draw games. Kansas Lottery products are sold at approximately 1,750 retail locations.

The Kansas Expanded Lottery Act, enacted in 2007, authorized the Kansas Lottery to be the owner/operator of casino gaming in four Kansas gaming zones.  Boot Hill Casino & Resort in Dodge City; Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane; Hollywood Casino at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City; and the Kansas Crossing Casino and Hotel in Pittsburg.

Compensation: $38,500 to $42,500 annually, position is an hourly, non-exempt position.

Salary can vary depending upon education, experience, or qualifications.

Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary: 

This individual is expected to proactively identify and carry-out work assignments associated with supporting Lottery users as well as supporting and configuring computers, mobile devices, printers and other related equipment.  Employee is free to develop their own work sequences within established procedures, methods and policies.  This individual must be able to resolve problems using analytical thought, knowledge of discipline, and troubleshooting protocols.  Daily work is assigned by ticket requests coming into the Lottery ticket system and/or received via phone, email or in-person contact.  Other assignments are given verbally and/or in writing with general objectives for desired outcome. Incumbent is responsible to proactively obtain requirements, understand the assignment and complete within agreed timeframes of the assignment.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:  

  • Monitor Ticket Queues and respond to email, phone or in-person requests for assistance.
  • Installs equipment and assists users with access and use.
  • Configures PC’s, mobile devices and provision cellular services required.
  • Supports, maintains, and operates Lottery technology systems and applications.
  • Performs daily duties on Microsoft servers; including backups, restores, creation/maintenance of user accounts.
  • Participates in Lottery meetings and trainings. Be on-call nights, weekends and holidays. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or equivalent and one-year experience advising and assisting computer users required.  Education and/or coursework may be substituted for experience.
  • Associates Degree in information technology with an emphasis on user support and information systems preferred.  Work experience as deemed relevant by the agency may be substituted.
  • Valid current Class C Kansas driver’s license required.
  • A+ Certified preferred.
  • Microsoft certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse group of users and retail partners.
  • Knowledge of Helpdesk concepts.
  • Knowledge of PC/mobile device/hardware and software support.

Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements:  

  • Must be able to pass extensive background prior to hire and subject to updates
  • Subject to tax clearance upon hire and subject to updates.
  • Employees of the Kansas Lottery and designated family members are subject to the provisions of the Kansas Lottery Act, K.S.A. 74-8701 et seq., and the Kansas Expanded Lottery Act, K.S.A. 74-8733 et seq.
  • Must complete I-9 Form upon hire and update and/or re-verify as required.
  • By law, any person who holds or has held a license with the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission may not be employed by the Kansas Lottery within five years after last holding such license.
