Danny Demirjian loves to play Kansas Lottery crossword games, and usually buys a couple of crossword tickets every week. That dedication paid off with a $10,000 prize!
“Crossword games take a little longer to play. You get more bang for your buck,” said Demirjian. “I like to play them, but I’ve never won anything like this before! It’s so awesome and a huge blessing for me and my wife.”
Demirjian said he didn’t realize what kind of prize he had at first. “When I scanned it at the store, it said to sign the ticket and take to Topeka. That’s when I knew it was a bigger prize, but I thought it was maybe a $1,000 winner.”
Demirjian got home and sat down with his wife, Leslie, to check the ticket together. “She was writing down every letter from every word, because we couldn’t believe how many words there were! When we got done we realized it was a $10,000 winner and we were just in shock!”
“I called work and told them that I couldn’t come in the next day, and we celebrated that night,” Demirjian added. “Now we’re here and claiming the prize. It just feels surreal! We’re both so happy.”
Demirjian said he and his wife plan to use the prize money to help family and then save the rest. “We’ll definitely help out our family with some things first, and we will just put the rest into savings for now.”
The winning ticket was purchased at QuikTrip 235R on 11070 Pflumm Road in Lenexa. There are still four top prizes left in the $10 $100,000 Crossword instant scratch game.
