Nov. 11, 1986 - 64 percent of voters say "yes" to the establishment of a state lottery in Kansas.
Sept. 16, 1987 - Kansas, Missouri, Rhode Island, West Virginia, Oregon, Iowa, and Washington, D.C. form the Multi-State Lottery Association and the Lotto America game.
Nov. 12, 1987 - Ticket sales begin statewide with kick-off events held in 21 cities. Sales of the first instant game, Up and Away, were $7 million the first week.
Feb. 3, 1988 - Lotto America ticket sales begin.
June 2, 1988 - Cash Lotto sales begin.
June 8, 1988 - The Lottery repays the initial $2.8 million start-up loan to the state a year before it was due.
Oct. 1, 1990 - The Lottery launches a new Keno game with drawings on Wednesday and Saturday.

May 17, 1995 - The Kansas Legislature approves and the governor signs the renewal of the Lottery until July 2002.
Aug. 18, 1996 - The Kansas Cash game is introduced, significantly modifying the Cash Lotto game.
April 14, 1997 - The first $5 instant ticket, Win for Life, debuts.
Nov. 2, 1997 - An enhanced version of the Powerball game is introduced.
March 30, 1998 - The daily Cash 4 Life game premiers.
July 18, 1999 - Pick 3 changes to a daily game. Sunday drawings are added.
Jan. 2000 - The total amount of proceeds from Lottery sales transferred to the State of Kansas surpasses $500 million.
Sept. 7, 2000 - The Cash 4 Life online game ends. During the 2 1/2 years the game was offered, 21 players, including three Kansans -- won the top prize of $1,000 a week for life.
Oct. 16, 2000 - Winners Take All, a Kansas-only, online game is introduced. It differs from other games because all the prize money is distributed through each drawing.
March 7, 2001 - The first Powerball drawing to include the Power Play multiplier number takes place. Players who choose the Power Play option can increase their prizes (excluding the jackpot) up to five-fold.
March 12, 2001 - The Kansas Legislature passes legislation to extend the Kansas Lottery to 2008.
Oct. 8, 2001 - The Kansas Lottery becomes the first lottery in the world to sell variable-imaged bar-coded pull tabs for inventory and security control.
Feb. 17, 2002 - Super Kansas Cash game begins as an enhanced version of Kansas Cash.
June 2, 2002 - The Kansas Lottery launches 2by2, a new Multi-State Lottery Association game that is played six days a week, Monday through Saturday.
Oct. 2002 - Powerball Instant Millionaire Game Show episodes begin. Kansas joins 13 other state lotteries in participating. Second-chance drawings are held for trips to Las Vegas and a chance to win $1 million on the weekly show. A Kansas player is on every show.
Oct. 6, 2002 - The Powerball game matrix changes; a Match 5 Bonus Prize is added.
Oct. 6, 2002 - The first $10 instant ticket, Holiday Wishes, debuts.
May 22, 2003 - The $2 Sunflower Salute instant game is launched by Governor Kathleen Sebelius. Proceeds from this ticket, and the $1 Veteran's Cash game, benefit Veterans' programs and National Guard Scholarships.
Sept. 2, 2003 - Governor Sebelius and the Kansas Lottery announce a partnership with Cabela's, the World's Foremost Outdoor Outfitter, and the new Cabela's Cash instant game.
Dec. 5, 2003 - The Kansas Lottery announces a partnership with Dodge City Steak Co. and launches the $2 Kansas Lottery Beef 'N' Bucks instant game.
Jan. 14, 2004 - The Lottery joins the AMBER Alert Program for recovery of abducted children.
May 3, 2004 - The Lottery launches eScratch, the first interactive Internet game of its kind in the world.
June 6, 2004 - The Kansas Lottery sponsors the ARCA RE/MAX Kansas Lottery $200 Grand race at Kansas Speedway.
June 14, 2004 - The Lottery announces its partnership with the Kansas Sesquicentennial Commission to launch a $1 instant game called 150 Years of Kansas Territory.
July 9, 2004 - The Lottery announces that lottery sales in Fiscal Year 2004 reached an all-time high at nearly $224.2 million.
Nov. 14, 2004 - A second $2 Cabela's instant ticket is launched in partnership with Cabela's, the World's Foremost Outdoor Outfitter.
Jan. 24, 2005 - Lt. Governor John Moore and Lottery officials launch the $5 Cobalt Splash 'n Cash instant ticket, with a $77,000 Cobalt 220 boat and trailer package as the grand prize in a second-chance drawing.
May 16, 2005 - eScratch is re-launched with higher prizes payouts, improved odds, and more interactive games.
June 23, 2005 - The Kansas Crossword instant ticket is launched. It is the first ticket to feature the "Kansas, as big as you think" state brand image tagline, the result of a strategic alliance formed by the Kansas Department of Commerce and the Kansas Lottery.
July 1, 2005 - The Lottery hosts its first-ever Customer Appreciation Day at Kansas Speedway.
July 2, 2005 - The Lottery sponsors the ARCA RE/MAX Kansas Lottery $200 Grand race at Kansas Speedway for the second year in a row.
Aug. 28, 2005 - The Powerball game changes. The starting jackpot jumps to $15 million; second-tier prize doubles to $200,000; third-tier prize doubles $10,000; two numbers are added, bringing the number of white balls to 55.
Sept. 8-9, 2005 - The Lottery commemorates the release of the new Kansas quarter with a $1 "Heads or Tails" instant scratch game and is also a major sponsor of a Kansas Quarter Launch Ceremony featuring Kansas Governor Sebelius held at the State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson.
Sept. 18, 2005 - For the first time, two vehicles (Ford Escape Hybrid SUVs) are given away in a single drawing at the Kansas State Fair.
Oct. 5, 2005 - A group of Beloit Knights of Columbus members share a $200,000 prize for matching the first five numbers in the Powerball drawing. The ticket is the first "Match 5" winner in Kansas since the game change.
Oct. 6, 2005 - The Made in Kansas Malibu ticket is the first in a new family of instant tickets celebrating the great products that are "Made in Kansas" and the people who make them. Chevrolet Malibus are manufactured in Kansas City, Kan.
Oct. 19, 2005 - A group of 44 winners, most of them members of the 190th Air Refueling Wing of the Kansas Air National Guard, share an $853,492 Match 5 Bonus Prize in Powerball. It is the first time in history of the game that the Match 5 Bonus Prize has been used.
Oct. 31, 2005 - A single mother of a teenage son, Pamela Dye of Meade, Kan., becomes the Kansas Lottery's newest millionaire by matching all six numbers in the Super Kansas Cash drawing and winning a $1,144,124 jackpot.
Nov. 21, 2005 - The Kansas Lottery extends its Keno hours by an hour, with the last drawing now being held at 1:52 a.m. instead of 12:52 a.m.
Jan. 4, 2006 - Lottery officials launch Kansas Chopper, the second Made in Kansas ticket promoting Kansas business, industry and tourism. Developed in partnership with Big Dog Motorcycles in Wichita, the game offers a 2006 Big Dog Motorcycle as the grand prize in a second-chance drawing.
Jan. 27, 2006 - The Lottery holds a news conference at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson to launch a $2 instant game called Golf Giveaway. The second-chance grand prizes in this Made in Kansas game are 25 trips for two to the U.S. Senior Open Championship at Prairie Dunes Country Club in Hutchinson, Kan., to be held in July 2006.
Feb. 18, 2006 - Linda Cheever of Abilene wins a Match 5 Bonus prize of $667,142 when her ticket matches the first five numbers in the Powerball drawing. The Match 5 Bonus option kicked in when the Powerball jackpot hit a new record high of $365 million.
March 14, 2006 - The Kansas Lottery and Kansas Speedway announce the expansion of their unique partnership with the Lottery's first-time sponsorship of the Kansas Lottery Indy 300 to be held July 2. The 2006 racing season also marks the third year for the Lottery's sponsorship of the ARCA RE/MAX Series Kansas Lottery $200 Grand.
March 15, 2006 - The Kansas Lottery introduces players to its newest lotto game by giving away thousands of free Hot Lotto tickets at retail locations throughout the state. In Hot Lotto, jackpots start at $1 million, and players pick five numbers from 1 to 39 and one "hot ball" from 1 to 19. Kansas becomes the ninth Lottery jurisdiction to offer Hot Lotto.
April 28, 2006 - Governor Sebelius and Lottery officials hold a news conference at the State Capitol to launch Home on the Range, another Made in Kansas instant game offering players a chance to win one of two RangeRunner ATVs made by TerraTrack in Clay Center, Kan. Governor Sebelius hops on a RangeRunner herself to demonstrate its operation.
May 3, 2006 - Two sisters from Wyandotte County, playing identical numbers, each win a $400,000 Powerball prize when their tickets match the first five numbers drawn. The sisters paid an extra $1 for the Power Play option, and doubled their winnings.
May 4, 2006 - The Kansas Lottery launches two Veterans Benefit tickets to provide direct funding for Kansas Veterans' programs and Kansas National Guard scholarships.
May 16, 2006 - The Kansas Lottery announces its partnership with the newly formed Kansas Association of Rodeo Committees and its sponsorship of the first-ever Kansas Lottery Championship Rodeo Series.
May 26, 2006 - Three players win grand prizes in the Lottery's Texas Hold'Em instant game second-chance drawing. Included in the prize each winner receives is a trip for two to a World Series of Poker satellite tournament and a chance to play in the tournament.
June 1, 2006 - The Kansas Lottery introduces the Electronic Game Card, an electronic version of an instant scratch ticket. The battery-powered Super 7's is the Lottery's first $20 instant game. Instead of scratching a paper ticket, a player reveals points as he moves through a series of electronic plays.
June 19, 2006 - The Lottery starts the first-ever Kansas Lottery Players Club allowing players the option of receiving e-mails containing winning numbers and jackpots, game updates, promotions and more, directly from the Lottery.
June 30, 2006 - The Kansas Lottery ends the 2006 fiscal year with total sales of $235 million, making FY06 the Lottery's best year ever. Instant tickets and pull tabs were significant factors in the higher sales, along with jackpot-driven increases in Powerball. The Kansas Lottery transferred $67.1 million to the State in FY06.
Aug. 18, 2006 - The Lottery introduces Kansas Made, another Made in Kansas instant game developed to help promote Kansas business and tourism. The second-chance grand prize in the game is a Saturn Aura, manufactured by GM in Kansas City, Kan.
Sept. 24, 2006 - The Kansas Lottery is the first lottery in the world to offer its players an on-line game modeled after the very popular Texas Hold'Em poker game. Called Kansas Hold'Em, the new game is being test marketed at a limited number of Lottery retailers in Kansas.
Sept. 27, 2006 - A Kansas resident hits the Powerball jackpot, winning $15 million dollars by matching all five numbers and the Powerball. The sole winner of the top Powerball prize, is a government worker from the Topeka area.
Oct. 12, 2006 - The first Made in Kansas instant game to feature a tourism area of Kansas is launched. Flint Hills Treasures offers players a chance to win one of five Flint Hills trips, each with a different theme, in a second-chance drawing. The game is developed in partnership with the Flint Hills Tourism Coalition.
Oct. 19, 2006 - The Lottery launches the Cool Cars instant game. Featuring four custom golf cars manufactured by Swartz Motorsports in Strong City, Kan. as second-chance drawing grand prizes, Cool Cars is also a Made in Kansas game.
Dec. 4, 2006 - Tammy Shuler, 41, of Topeka wins a record Super Kansas Cash jackpot of $3.14 million by matching all six numbers in the Dec. 4, 2006 drawing. After taxes, Shuler takes home a prize of $2.2 million!
Dec. 14, 2006 - Luxury & Loot is launched. The $5 instant game is the second scratch ticket the Lottery has developed with Cobalt Boats. The value of the Cobalt 222 boat and trailer grand prize is $95,000.
Jan. 11, 2007 - In honor of its 20th anniversary, the Lottery launches $200,000 Celebration, its first $20 scratch ticket. The game will make it possible for one player to win $200,000 and 19 players to win $20,000 following a second-chance drawing and a grand prize event.
Feb. 22, 2007 - Governor Sebelius helps the Lottery launch a $2 instant ticket dedicated to The Great Santa Fe Trail Horse Race Endurance Ride, the bulk of which will take place in Kansas in September of 2007.
Feb. 24, 2007 - A player from Kansas City, Kan., wins TWO $200,000 prizes after matching the first five numbers in the Powerball drawing with two identical tickets. He bought the tickets at retailers right next to each other, and picked the winning numbers himself.
March 29, 2007 - The Kansas Legislature passes Senate Bill 66, extending the Lottery until 2022 and creating the Kansas Expanded Lottery Act authorizing the Lottery, on behalf of the State, to own and operate four destination casinos. Electronic gaming machines will also be allowed at three parimutuel racetracks.
April 12, 2007 - Governor Kathleen Sebelius signs Senate Bill 66 into law.
May 24, 2007 - In partnership with Land Pride of Salina and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, the Lottery launches Open Season, a $2 Made in Kansas instant game in which three grand prize winners will take home Land Pride Trekers and lifetime Kansas hunting/fishing licenses.
May 30, 2007 - The Kansas and Iowa lotteries announce they will become the first in the U.S. to offer a joint instant-scratch game. Players in both states will buy tickets and compete for larger prizes than the two states have traditionally been able to offer on their own. "Midwest Millions" is scheduled to launch in September 2007.
June 4, 2007 - Eddy Young, 55, of Latham, Kan., pays an extra dollar to purchase Power Play, matches five numbers, and becomes the first Kansas Powerball player to win $1 million without hitting the Powerball jackpot!
June 30 , 2007 - In its 20th anniversary year, the Kansas Lottery hits an all-time record for sales. Total sales in FY07 were $240 million, up more than two percent from the previous year, which also set a record. The Lottery transferred $71 million to the State in FY07, the highest transfer in a single year since the Lottery started selling tickets.
July 4, 2007 - The first Hot Lotto ticket sold in Kansas to win a jackpot is claimed by Lori Boyle of Independence. The 42-year-old mother of two wins $12.9 million in the July 4, 2007 Hot Lotto drawing.
August 11, 2007 - Larry and Marta Ketler of Goodland match all five numbers plus the Cashball to win a Super Kansas Cash jackpot of $1.58 million. The Ketlers became millionaires after buying a ticket for the game every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
September 16, 2007 - A new bride from Haysville, Angela DeThample, wins a 2007 Ford Edge when her entry is drawn from approximately 216,000 entries in the Get an Edge with Super Kansas Cash drawing held at the State Fair.
September 30, 2007 - After test marketing Kansas Hold'Em at a limited number of Lottery retailers for a year, the Lottery takes its new online monitor game statewide.
November 9, 2007 - The Lottery celebrates its 20th anniversary by announcing that it has transferred more than $1 billion to the State in the 20 years since the first ticket was sold.
November 9, 2007 - To celebrate its anniversary, the Lottery brings 20 players to Topeka to scratch giant instant tickets and compete for $580,000 in cash prizes. The winner of the largest prize, $200,000, is Wanita Johnson of Hutchinson.
December 6, 2007 - In partnership with Cougar Custom Boats, located in Hill City, Kan., the Lottery launches the $5 Cougar and Cash game, in which two players win grand prizes of Cougar Custom Boats.
December 18, 2007 - The Lottery announces it is discontinuing sales of eScratch at the end of the year because of disappointing sales.
January 2, 2008 - A McPherson resident claims a $1.082 Super Kansas Cash jackpot he won by matching all numbers in the Nov. 3, 2007 drawing.
January 3, 2008 - This date brings a new tripler prize option to the Hot Lotto game. Called Hot Lotto SIZZLER, it gives players who spend an extra dollar per play the chance to triple their non-jackpot winnings.
January 24, 2008 - Jeffrey Brin of Olathe wins the largest instant prize in lottery history, claiming a $100,000 prize on a $20 Golden Millions scratch ticket.
February 22, 2008 - The top prize in the 2by2 game increases to $22,000, plus players have a chance to double ALL 2by2 prizes playing 2by2 Tuesday. To qualify for 2by2 Tuesday double prizes, a player must purchase a ticket of 7 consecutive days or multiples of 7 consecutive plays.
March 13, 2008 - The Kansas Lottery, along with three other state agencies and the Kansas Coalition on Problem Gambling, announce the formation of the new Kansas Responsible Gambling Alliance to promote public awareness of the dangers of problem gambling and the availability of treatment.
March 21, 2008 - A Kansas City, Kan. resident claims the $1.123 million Super Kansas Cash jackpot she won by matching all numbers in the March 19 drawing.
May 5, 2008 - The Kansas Lottery Commission approves a contract with Kansas Penn Gaming, LLC to become a lottery gaming facility manager in the Southeast Gaming Zone of Kansas and forwards the contract to the Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board for its consideration.
May 22, 2008 - The Lottery launches the $2 Garmin instant scratch game. The game is the result of a partnership between the Lottery and Garmin, Ltd., headquartered in Olathe, Kan. Grand prizes are 20 Garmin merchandise packages.
May 27, 2008 - The Kansas Lottery Commission approves contracts with 10 developers seeking to become lottery gaming facility managers in the South Central, Southwest and Northeast gaming zones of Kansas. The contracts are forwarded to the Lottery Gaming Facility Review Board for its consideration.
May 31, 2008 - A Pittsburg man matches all numbers in the Hot Lotto drawing to claim a $5.26 million jackpot. It is the second Hot Lotto jackpot hit in Kansas.
June 23, 2008 - Hope Higgins of Abilene is struck by jackpot lightning twice when she hits her second Super Kansas Cash jackpot to win $1.2 million. Higgins was one of two winners who split a Super Kansas Cash jackpot of $3.05 million in April 2004.
June 30, 2008 - The Lottery ends the 2008 fiscal year with its second-highest sales on record. Unaudited sales are recorded at nearly $237 million for the year.
July 1, 2008 - The Lottery begins selling Veterans Benefit tickets year-round, instead of only between May 1 and November 30.
September 5, 2008 - As a result of the success of "Midwest Millions," the first truly multi-state instant scratch game that debuted in September 2007, the Kansas Lottery launches a second $10 Midwest Millions ticket with the Iowa Lottery. Two second-chance drawings will award a total of $1.1 million in cash prizes.
November 29, 2008 - A retired public employee from Wichita matches all numbers in the Hot Lotto drawing, winning a $12.2 million jackpot. It is the third Hot Lotto jackpot won in Kansas, and the third largest ever claimed in the Hot Lotto game.
December 4, 2008 - The Lottery launches a $5 Big Dog Motorcycles K-9 instant scratch game, the second game it has developed with Big Dog Motorcycles, located in Wichita. The new game offers players a custom Big Dog Chopper as a second-chance drawing grand prize.
December 22, 2008 - Ground was broken for the Boot Hill Casino & Resort in Dodge City. Boot Hill is to be the first complex built under the 2007 Kansas Expanded Lottery Act authorizing one casino in each of four areas to generate revenue for the state. A private developer, Butler National Corporation, will build the casino and manage it, but the Kansas Lottery owns the rights to the gambling and the gambling equipment.
January 9, 2009 - Sandra Vines of Wichita is drawn as the winner of $500,000 in a Midwest Millions second-chance drawing. The single mother of five goes on to "star" in a Kansas Lottery TV commercial.
January 10, 2009 - An employee of Spirit Aerosystems in Wichita claims a $2.76 million Hot Lotto jackpot after matching all numbers in the drawing. The win by the Belle Plaine man is the fourth Hot Lotto jackpot won in Kansas since Kansas joined the Hot Lotto group in March 2006.
February 13, 2009 - A Stilwel, Kansas resident claims a $1.6 million Super Kansas Cash jackpot won by matching all numbers in the February 7, 2009 drawing.
April 20, 2009 - A deputy sheriff for Franklin County, Adam Sorell, wins $500,000 in a Midwest Millions second-chance drawing. The Shawnee resident is featured in a Midwest Millions TV commercial later in the year.
April 24, 2009 - The Kansas Lottery becomes the first lottery in the world to offer its players a next generation lottery product called PushPlay, which uses an electronic player with an LCD screen to display the game.
May 14, 2009 - For the first time, the Lottery partners with Bass Pro Shops and the Kansas Dept. of Wildlife & Parks on an instant scratch game, in which the second-chance prizes are shopping sprees and lifetime hunting/fishing licenses.
May 21, 2009 - The Painted Byways game is launched to promote Kansas' Scenic Byways and Kansas Arts. The second-chance grand prizes are nine original paintings, each one depicting a Byway, painted by well-known Kansas artist Stan Herd. It is the first time a lottery has offered original artwork as grand prizes.
June 30, 2009 - The Lottery ends the FY09 fiscal year with sales down 2.6 percent, but still tallies $230.5 million in sales and transfers $68.2 million to the state.
October 18, 2009 - Players line up to be among the first to buy tickets in the Lottery's first-ever raffle game. The Holiday Millionaire Raffle offers Kansas Lottery players their best chance ever of winning $1 million at 1 in 150,000. Five $50,000 prizes and five hundred $500 prizes will also be awarded.
November 11, 2009 - Donald Damon of Great Bend matches all numbers in the Powerball drawing to win $96.6 million! It is the largest single Powerball prize ever claimed in Kansas. The new multi-millionaire decides to take the cash option of $48.3 million, minus taxes.
December 31, 2009 - Winning numbers are drawn in the Kansas Lottery's first raffle game. Victoria Mason of Wichita wins a $1 million cash grand prize in the Holiday Millionaire Raffle. Five other players win $50,000 cash, and five hundred tickets win $500 each. Lottery Executive Director Ed Van Petten announces the first raffle was wildly successful - selling out more than a month ahead of the deadline.
January 31, 2010 - The Kansas Lottery begins selling Mega Millions tickets to its players, allowing them to play for two large multi-million jackpots. Because of an agreement reached between the Multi-State Lottery Association, which administers Powerball; and the Mega Millions consortium; all U.S. lotteries now have the option to cross-sell the two games. Mega Millions drawings occur each Tuesday and Friday. The cost is $1 per play, with the Megaplier multiplier option costing an additional $1.
February 15, 2010 - A 41-year-old woman from Wichita wins a $1.06 Super Kansas Cash jackpot when her ticket matches all numbers. The winner said she had only played the game a few times.
March 17, 2010 - The Lottery partners with General Motors in Kansas City, Kan., and begins sales of World Class...LaCrosse, a $10 ticket offering two Buick LaCrosse vehicles as grand prizes in a second-chance drawing.
April 16, 2010 - Greg Barnhart of Chanute gets lucky in a second-chance drawing and wins a $500,000 cash prize in Midwest Millions, a game offered jointly by the Kansas and Iowa lotteries.
May 7, 2010 - Pam Rozar of Haysville wins a 2010 3i Show Special Edition GMC Canyon Crew Cab Sport truck in a drawing held at the 3i Show. Rozar entered the drawing by sending in the voucher she received in a special Hot Lotto promotion.
May 18, 2010 - The winner of the $50,000 cash grand prize in the Pirate's Treasure second-chance drawing held at the Wichita River Festival is Valerie Thomas of Wichita.
June 30, 2010 - The Kansas Lottery ends the fiscal year with sales of lottery products up about 2.13 percent from the previous year. FY10 sales were $235.4 million (unaudited), with transfers to the State of $69 million. An additional $29.5 million was transferred to the State as a result of the Kansas Expanded Lottery Act.
July 27, 2010 - The Kansas Lottery becomes the first lottery to partner with the Kansas City Chiefs on an instant scratch ticket. The $10 KC Chiefs ticket gives players a chance to win "Ultimate Chiefs Experience" prize packages in a second-chance drawing.
October 20, 2010 - Marilyn Camden of Hanover finds out how it feels to win the lottery when she matches all numbers to win a $1.36 Million Super Kansas Cash jackpot. The winning ticket was purchased at BJ's 66 in Junction City.
November 12, 2010 - For the first time, the Kansas Lottery partners with Boot Hill Casino & Resort in Dodge City on a joint promotion. Players who purchase $10 or more in Kansas Hold'Em receive a "Boot Hill Bounty" entry form and have a chance to win trips to Dodge City, including a Boot Hill Casino & Resort package.
November 23, 2010 - A Junction City resident wins $44,000 on a 2by2 Tuesday ticket. The player matches all numbers and doubles her winnings by purchasing a qualifying play of seven consecutive days.

December 30, 2010 - A Topeka woman becomes $1 million richer when she claims the top prize in the Lottery's second Holiday Millionaire Raffle. The winner, who has worked for the State of Kansas for 33 years, claims her prize within 30 minutes of the winning number being announced on live television.
January 25, 2011- The Kansas Lottery commemorates the Kansas Sesquicentennial by launching a special game in which players have a chance to win an original work of art by a Kansas artist. Ten paintings will be second chance drawing prizes in the "Kansas 150" game.
April 11, 2011- The Muscle Car Money instant scratch game is launched, offering players a chance to win one of the hottest cars around, a 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Coupe, as the grand prize in a second-chance drawing.
June 25, 2011 - Players can now watch Keno drawings on the Kansas Lottery website, as well as at their favorite lottery retailer. This new option give players the opportunity to watch Keno drawings on the Internet whenever they choose, in addition to watching them on a Keno monitor at a Kansas Lottery retailer location.
June 30, 2011 - Fiscal Year 2011 sales of lottery products are reported to be $232.4 million, with $70 million transferred to the State, a $1 million increase over Fiscal Year 2010. State-owned and -operated casino gambling generated another $33.8 million for the State in Fiscal Year 2011.
July 1, 2011 - The Kansas Lottery gets a new executive director. Gov. Sam Brownback selects Dennis Wilson to replace Ed Van Petten, who held the position for more than 11 years.
August 20, 2011 - A Finney Co. resident matches all the numbers and the Cash Ball to win the second largest Super Kansas Cash jackpot of $3.05 million. The winning ticket was purchased at Wheat Lands Country Store in Garden City.
October 1, 2011 - The Kansas Lottery enhances its Holiday Millionaire Raffle game by offering Early Bird drawings, giving players 10 chances to win $10,000 in the first five weeks of Holiday Millionaire Raffle sales.
October 6, 2011 - The Kansas Lottery launches an online-only drawing in which players can win electronics prizes by entering their non-winning holiday tickets.
December 30, 2011 - A Wichita resident became $1 million richer when he claimed the top prize in the Lottery's third Holiday Millionaire Raffle drawing. Five other players each won $10,000 and 10 players each won $5,000 in the drawing. In addition, The Kansas Lottery drew 500 raffle numbers each worth $500, and 500 raffle numbers each worth $100.

April 6, 2012 - What a day! Kansas Lottery introduces 'Anonymous,' the Mega Millions Multimillionaire from the March 30 drawing, during a live news conference at Lottery headquarters in Topeka. The winner is from Franklin County. Shortly after the news conference, a Wichita resident claimed a $250,000 Mega Millions cash prize, also from the March 30, 2012, drawing.
April 11, 2012 - the Lottery launches a $10 Anniversary Road Trip ticket, with the grand prize of a Winnebago luxury RV worth more than $100,000.
April 16, 2012 - A Wichita resident claims a Super Kansas Cash jackpot worth $1.46 million. The winner purchased a $1 Quick Pick ticket and matched all numbers in the April 14, 2012, Super Kansas Cash drawing.
April 23, 2012 - A Topeka resident claims Kansas' first $1 million Powerball Match 5 winner under the game's new structure. The lucky ticket is from the April 4 drawing.
May 2, 2012 - The Kansas Lottery partners with Kansas Recreation and Park Association to promote Kansas State Parks. "Art in the Park" tickets feature colorful park scenes painted by Kansas landscape artist Louis Copt. Each $2 ticket depicts a landscape from one of four parks in Kansas: Lake Shawnee in Topeka, Tuttle Creek State Park in Manhattan, Finnup Park in Garden City, and Eisenhower Park in Abilene.
June 30, 2012 - The Kansas Lottery ends the 2012 fiscal year with a new record for annual sales! Sales of lottery products from July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012 were nearly $244 million, up more than 4.6% from the previous year and setting an all-time yearly record. Happy 25th Anniversary!
July 26, 2012 - Terry Atkinson, a 29-year-old Mulvane resident, is the winner of the first-ever Kansas Lottery T-shirt Design Contest, as voted on by members of the Kansas Lottery Players Club.
August 29, 2012 - The Lottery launches a new Kansas Casinos instant game, in which players have a chance to win a VIP trip to one of Kansas' three casinos with state-owned and -operated gaming - Boot Hill, Hollywood Casino at Kansas Speedway and Kansas Star. April 1, 2013 - The Kansas Lottery launches its first Firecracker 50/50 game. The jackpot will be determined solely on the number of $20 tickets sold. The more tickets sold, the higher the jackpot. One winner will win an amount equal to half of all ticket sales! The Firecracker 50/50 drawing will be held July 2, 2013.

June 30, 2013 - The Kansas Lottery sets a new record for the amount of money transferred to the State in a single year. The Lottery transferred $74.5 million from the sale of lottery tickets in Fiscal Year 2013, bettering the previous year's record by $2.5 million.
July 2, 2013 - Steven Noll of Nortonville is the sole winner of a $149,360 jackpot in the Firecracker 50/50 raffle. The Jefferson County North teacher and coach received his ticket from his wife as a Father's Day gift.

July 31, 2013 - In partnership with the Kansas City Chiefs, the Kansas Lottery launches the $5 Kansas City Chiefs instant scratch game. The game offers a second-chance drawing in which five players will win Chiefs prize packages. This is the second game in which the Lottery has partnered with the Chiefs.
August 7, 2013 - A Hays resident who asked to remain anonymous wins a $1 million prize for matching the first five numbers in Powerball.

October 1, 2013 - The fifth annual Holiday Millionaire Raffle is launched with 175,000 tickets available for sale. An added enhancement is a $50 instant win coupon that will be won by thousands of players at the time they purchase their raffle tickets. Tickets sell for $20, with a $1 million top prize.
October 9, 2013 - Tapping into the zombie craze, the Lottery launches a $2 instant ticket based on the hit AMC series The Walking Dead.
October 16, 2013 - A Sublette player claims a $1 million prize for matching the first five numbers in Powerball.
October 22, 2013 - The first drawing under the enhanced Mega Millions game in which the starting jackpot is increased from $12 to $15 million and the Match 5 prize is increased to $1 million. Still selling for $1 a play, the new game has 75 white ball and only 15 Megaball numbers to choose from.

December 13, 2013 - The last day the Great Bend Lottery Office is open to the public. The office is closed as part of restructuring efforts. Players are still able to claim prizes at Lottery headquarters in Topeka or, if their prize is $599 or less, at most of the Lottery's retail locations.
January 3, 2014 - An Overland Park woman claims a $2.13 million jackpot in the November 27, 2013 Super Kansas Cash drawing. The winner realized she had won on Thanksgiving Day, but she said she waited until the New Year to claim the prize for tax reasons.
January 6, 2014 - Terry Presta becomes the new Kansas Lottery Executive Director, after having been named to the position by Governor Sam Brownback.
January 9, 2014 - Nancy Hubble of Norwich claims a $1 million Holiday Millionaire Raffle prize from the December 31, 2013 drawing. Hubble said she and her "longtime partner and best friend" had eight raffle tickets between them.
January 22, 2014 - The Powerball game is changed, returning the Power Play multiplier option to a random multiplier option using 2X, 3X, 4X and 5X. There are two exceptions. The Match 5 Power Play prize will not be multiplied and remains at $2 million, and the Jackpot prize is not multiplied.
March 24, 2014 - A Topeka resident claims a $1 million Powerball prize from the March 22, 2014 drawing. The lucky winner, who opted to remain anonymous, matched the first five numbers, but not the Powerball, on a $6 Quick Pick ticket.

June 3, 2014 - A 51-year-old Lawrence man who works for the University of Kansas becomes the Kansas Lottery's newest millionaire, times two. The lucky player matched the first five numbers in the May 17 Powerball drawing and had also purchased the Power Play option, which doubled his prize from $1 million to $2 million.
June 30, 2014 - The Kansas Lottery sets a new yearly record for Veterans Benefit games in Fiscal Year 2014. The Lottery transferred a record $1,795,054 directly to state programs providing benefits to Kansas military veterans, bringing total transfers to more than $12 million since 2003.
August 12, 2014 - A Kansas Lottery player from Quinter claims a $153,630 prize he won Aug. 7 playing Keno. The winner matched all 8 spots on an 8-spot Keno with Bull's-eye ticket. Because he had played a $5 wager, his $30,000 prize was multiplied by five, plus he shared in a progressive jackpot, bringing his grand total to a whopping $153,630!
September 5, 2014 - Frogger, a new $5 instant scratch game with maze-style play action based on the classic arcade game by the same name, is launched. Players with non-winning tickets can enter a second-chance drawing for cash.
September 5, 2014 - Sales begin for the sixth annual Holiday Millionaire Raffle. The game has a top prize of $1,000,000 and more than 7,500 other cash prizes, including $50 Bonus Cash prizes that players win at the time of purchase.

February 5, 2015 - The Kansas Lottery launches a family of games with five price points. The new X-Family games feature more than 2,000,000 prizes ranging from a free ticket to $100,000. Altogether, players can win more than $15 million worth of prizes.
February 18, 2015 - A 50-year-old Merriam resident claims a $1,755,859 cash jackpot after matching all numbers in the February 9 Super Kansas Cash drawing.
April 17, 2015 - The Kansas Lottery teams up with Sporting Kansas City to offer players fan experience prizes in a Futbol Fantasy promotion in which players purchase $5 or more of Super Kansas Cash to enter the drawings.

June 1, 2015 - Players who spend $6 or more on a single Powerball with Power Play ticket can enter a drawing to win "The Royal Treatment" prize which includes Royals Crown Club seat tickets, autographed memorabilia and more.
June 2, 2015 - the Lottery launches a $5 game in which the grand prize winenr will receive a $25,000 shopping spree at The Home Depot. Ten other players will win $500 gift cards in the $25,000 Makeover game.
June 18, 2015 - The Kansas Lottery puts one in the record books, setting an all-time record for transfers to the State of Kansas in a single year. The Fiscal Year 2015 transfer of $75.02 million beats the previous record by more than half a million dollars.
July 1, 2015 - Steve and Tana Harrod of Piedmont, Kansas, win a $9.85 million jackpot by matching all numbers in the Hot Lotto drawing. The winning $1 Hot Lotto ticket was part of the "Fast 5 Sampler" the Harrods purchase twice a week. The Harrods will get the entire $9.85 million as a cash lump sum, with the Lottery paying the initial income withholding taxes on the prize.
September 11, 2015 - Sales begin for the 7th annual Holiday Millionaire Raffle. The game offers 11 Early Bird prizes drawn in 11 Early Bird drawings, with the first Early Bird prize worth $25,000.
September 21, 2015 - During a first-ever grand prize event held at the Kansas State Fair, 10 finalists try to win a red Corvette Stingray in the Corvette Cash second-chance drawing. The winner is a very happy Jeff Busch of Olathe.
September 23, 2015 - The Zombie Adventure game is launched statewide. The $2 game offers players a chance to win a Motoped Survival Bike instantly. Each Motoped is valued at more than $3,500.
January 13, 2016 - The Lottery sets up its first "Lottery Drive-Through" at a shopping mall in Topeka, giving players an easy way to purchase thier Powerball tickets during the "Powerball Frenzy" caused by a Powerball jackpot well over a billion dollars! At the height of the frenzy, players were buying Powerball tickets at the rate of more than $12,000 per minute!
January 13, 2016 - Kansas players win two $1 million Powerball prizes and seven $50,000 Powerball prizes in a historic drawing in which the jackpot hit an all-time record high of $1.586 billion. Sales in Kansas for the Jan. 13 drawing hit an all-time high for a single drawing, with $9.68 million of Powerball tickets sold in the Sunflower State.
January 30, 2016 - A Junction City resident matches all numbers in the Hot Lotto drawing to win a jackpot worth $1,550,000, with initial taxes paid by the Lottery.
February 7, 2016 - Kansas Pick 3 players get twice the chance to win, when the Kansas Lottery adds a new Midday Pick 3 draw. The new draw will be held at approximately 1:10 p.m. each day, with the Evening draw still occurring at about 9:10 p.m. Both draws are held seven days a week.
February 17, 2016 - The Kansas Lottery sponsors a tour of the 2015 World Championship Royals Trophy with stops in Pittsburg, Hays, Hutchinson and Topeka. Thousands of fans line up to see the trophy and have their picture taken with it.
April 7, 2016 - The $5 Kansas City Royals instant game is launched, giving players a chance to win up to $25,000 or a grand prize package in a pair of second-chance drawings. Each package includes access to the Kansas City Royals Dugout Suite at Kauffman Stadium.
April 15, 2016 - The Kansas Lottery recognizes dozens of Lottery Retailers for their outstanding lottery sales. The Director's Club recognition includes two retailers - Lonestar 23 in Salina and Express Corner 2 in Garden City - that each sold more than $1 million worth of tickets in Calendar Year 2015.
May 27, 2016 - Bill Rodriguez of Andover wins a Royal Caribbean cruise for two to the Bahamas as the grand prize winner in the Crusie for Cash Collect & Win second-chance drawing.
June 11, 2016 - Five finalists in the Lottery's $5 Treasure Hunt second-chance promotion compete to win a $25,000 top cash prize in an event held at the Wichita Riverfest. It is Amber Lowe of Bonner Springs who picks the treasure chest that contains a key to the box containing a $25,000 check. Each of the other four finalists wins $1,000.
June 15, 2016 - The Lottery transfers $1,658,099 from the sale of $1 and $2 Veterans Benefit instant scratch tickets. Proceeds from the sale of these special tickets go to state programs that provide benefits to Kansas military veterans. In 13 years, the Lottery has generated more than $15.2 million for Veterans programs.
June 30, 2016 - The Kansas Lottery ends Fiscal Year 2016 with record sales and record transfers to the State of Kansas! Together, traditional lottery and expanded lottery (casinos) transferred a combined $163.9 million to the State. Traditional Lottery accounted for $78.2 million of the total, and Expanded Lottery transferred $85.7 million to the State.
July 8, 2016 - A Franklin County resident becomes a Kansas Lottery millionaire after claiming a $2 million Mega Millions prize from the July 8, 2016 drawing. The winning ticket was purchased at a store in Pomona.
August 24, 2016 - a Wichita resident wins $1 million playing Powerball. The ticket was purchased at a Kwik Shop in Garden City.
September 10, 2016 - Wichita residents Ricky and Kathy Clark win a $1 million Powerball prize by matching the first five numbers in Powerball.
September 18, 2016 - James Harker of Leon, Kansas, wins his choice of one three great "muscle cars" in the Kansas Lottery's Fast Money Grand Prize Event held at the Kansas State Fair in Hutchinson. Harker said his car of choice will be the Camaro.
September 21, 2016 - A Prairie Village resident wins a record Super Kansas Cash jackpot worth $3,160,431! The ticket was purchased at Hen House 22 in Prairie Village.
November 15, 2016 - The Kansas Lottery launches its first new draw game in more than six years. Lucky for Life is a game in which players can win $1,000 a day for life, $25,000 a week for life, or eight other prizes ranging from $3 to $5,000. Lucky for Life plays cost $2 each. Drawings are held twice a week on Monday and Thursday. Kansas is the 22nd lottery to offer Lucky for Life to its players.
January 25, 2017 - The Kansas Lottery launches the PlayOn Players Loyalty program, in which players who submit tickets receive points they can redeem for drawings to win cash or othe prizes. A mobile PlayOn app lets players submit tickets "On the go."
February 5, 2017 - The Lottery launches the "Power Cruise" promotion in which 30 Kansas players will join winners from other lotteries for an exclusive cruise just for Powerball players and their guests. Once on board the 30 Kansas winners will also have a chance to win a share of $150,000 in cash prizes!
February 28, 2017 - To celebrate its 30th birthday, the Kansas Lottery launches a new $5 Birthday Bash instant game in which players will have a chance to win 270 prize packages, with one drawing each month of this year.
March 7, 2017 - The Kansas Lottery celebrates 30 years of providing fun and exciting entertainment for players and important revenue for the State with a Birthday Kick-off Event at the Kansas State Capitol. Governor Sam Brownback signs a proclamation designating a "Kansas Lottery Day." The Kansas House and Kansas Senate both recognize the Kansas Lottery with special resolutions.
April 5, 2017 - The Lottery announces that 30 Kansas Lottery players will win a seat in the first-ever Kansas Lottery Slot Tournament during the November 18, 2017 birthday celebration at Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane.
April 10, 2017 - Darryl "DJ" Hestand of Olathe becomes the Kansas Lottery's first winner of $25,000 a Year for Life in the Lucky for Life game.
April 21, 2017 - The Kansas Lottery celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Powerball game by giving away 25,000 Powerball tickets. Any player who buys $10 of Powerball on a single ticket will receive a free $4 Powerball ticket in what's called the "$100,000 Blowout!"
