It may be winter across the Sunflower State, but Kansas Lottery players have been red hot with big wins since the new year began! The Kansas Lottery has had four different $1 million prizes or higher be won or claimed in 2023 so far, and we’re only halfway through the month!
The lucky streak began in November 2022, when the Powerball jackpot was hit in Kansas for the first time since 2012 for $92 million! That prize was claimed anonymously on January 5, 2023.
Next, the annual Holiday Millionaire Raffle announcement took place on January 4, with over 5,600 total winners announced, including the $1 million grand prize! That ticket was sold in Northeast Kansas and remains unclaimed. Players can see a complete list of Raffle numbers and prizes on the Kansas Lottery website here.
Not be outdone, Mega Millions went on a record jackpot roll, climbing all the way up to $1.35 billion in last Friday’s drawing. During that Mega Millions run, Kansas had two different $1 million winners in the same week! The first million-dollar ticket was hit in the January 10 drawing in Southeast Kansas, and then another million-dollar ticket was sold in the Friday, January 13 drawing in Northeast Kansas as well!
“As I have said many times before, nothing makes us happier than to give prizes away to our players. It’s really great that we’ve had such a nice run of big prizes in the last few weeks for them to enjoy,” said Kansas Lottery Executive Director Stephen Durrell. “We love having big winners. It has been a blast this year, and we hope the fun continues!”
The chance to win big continues tonight, with the Mega Millions drawing for an estimated $20 million jackpot, which reset after being hit in Maine last Friday.
Players are invited to submit all their winning and non-winning tickets in the Kansas Lottery PlayOn® Players Loyalty program to earn points for drawing entries and a chance to win cash and other prizes! PlayOn® is a registered trademark of Pollard Banknote Limited used under license.
