Earlier this month, the Kansas Lottery sent out a message to remind players to check their tickets, as a $1 million Powerball ticket was getting closer and closer to expiring. Thankfully, the message was received and the ticket was claimed on Wednesday, July 10 in Topeka!
The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, said they kept the ticket in a safe place but had to wait to make the claim for personal reasons. They were relived and excited to finally be claiming their prize!
The winning ticket was sold at True Lies LLC at 607 Oil Hill Road in El Dorado, Kansas. The retailer is eligible for up to a $1,000 selling bonus.
There are still multiple prizes that have gone unclaimed over the past year. For example, there are two 2by2 top prizes remaining to be claimed, as well as four $50,000 Powerball prizes, and dozens of other prizes for multiple games across all six regions of the state.
To see an updated list of current unclaimed prizes and when those prizes expire, see the Kansas Lottery website here. Draw game prizes expire one year after the date of the drawing, and instant game prizes expire six months after the game is ended. To see a complete list of active and recently ended instant games and when their prizes expire, see website here.
Players are invited to submit all their winning and non-winning tickets in the Kansas Lottery PlayOn® Players Loyalty program to earn points for drawing entries and a chance to win cash and other prizes! PlayOn® is a registered trademark of Pollard Banknote Limited used under license.
