When Ana Reyes scratched off her $2 Double Bonus Crossword ticket, she thought she had won $2,000! She was so excited, that she called the Kansas Lottery to confirm her prize before making the trip to Topeka. That’s when she found out that she had misread her ticket.
“I thought I had won $2,000, and that was awesome,” Reyes said with a laugh. “Then on the phone they told me that it wasn’t a $2,000 winner and that I needed to re-check the game, because it was a $20,000 winner!”
Reyes said she plays the Lottery a few times a week, and was more than happy with a $2,000 win. “I really didn’t believe it at first because I’ve never won anything like that before,” Reyes added.
After finding out how big her prize was, she couldn’t resist calling friends and family to let them know about the win! “After I calmed down, I just had to tell people, and then I decided we were to Topeka today!” Reyes said.
Reyes said she wasn’t expecting a win like this, and really hasn’t decided what to do with the winning yet. One thing is for sure, though, is that this is a good problem to have.
“It’s fun to think about all the things we could do,” Reyes said. “But you also to be responsible. So we’ll try to figure that out!”
The winning ticket was sold at QuikTrip 321 at 6011 West Central Street in Wichita. There are still 13 top prizes left in the $2 Double Bonus Crossword game, as well as thousands in other cash prizes.
