Carl McPherson is a dedicated Kansas Lottery player, and his persistence has paid off with a $250,000 win on the $30 $250,000 Jackpot game! The small businessman came to Topeka with his fiancée to claim the prize on their 10th anniversary, making the win even sweeter for the Wichita couple.
“I couldn’t believe it when I saw the prize,” McPherson said. “I went outside right away to tell my cousin that I won the jackpot. I was running around the backyard and jumping on the trampoline yelling, ‘I won $250,000!’ Then I told my fiancée, and she kept asking if I was reading the ticket right.”
After calling the Kansas Lottery to confirm his prize amount, the winner was ecstatic to further share his good news with all of his family and friends. He is glad this win can help his Wichita business—McPherson’s Lawn Care LLC—grow in the coming years.
“I came from nothing, I really did. And winning $250,000 is still really hard to believe,” McPherson said.
In addition to investing in his business, McPherson plans to use the money for a “good down payment” on a home for him and his family.
The winning ticket was sold at QuikTrip 368R at 626 W. 21st St. in Wichita. There are still three top prizes in the $30 $250,000 Jackpot game, plus thousands in other prizes!
