Recent Winners!

William Hartsock doesn’t always play Mega Millions, but with the jackpot climbing higher and higher he decided to jump into the game. That was good decision #1! He also decided to add the $1 Megaplier to his ticket as well, which ultimately doubled his prize! 

Hartsock matched four numbers and the Mega Ball to win $10,000, and then with the 2X multiplier addition, his win was doubled to a $20,000 prize! The winning numbers in the July 14, 2023 Mega Millions drawing were 10 – 24 – 48 – 51 – 66 Megaball 15.

“I typically play other games, but Mega Millions caught my attention with the big jackpot” Hartsock said. “I decided to try it out, which ended up being a good call!” 

At first, the Hartsock family thought they had won a much smaller prize of $400 or so. “We were super excited, and when we went to double check the ticket, she realized we had missed a number. That took us both by surprise, for sure,” Hartsock said. 

Unfortunately, the winning drawing was the Friday night drawing for the Hartsocks, so they had to sit and wait to come in to claim their prize until the Kansas Lottery offices were open again. “We just kind of held onto the ticket for a while before signing it,” Hartsock said. “Then we put it in a safe place, and I had to get ready for work that day!” 

The winners aren’t exactly sure what they’re going to do with their winnings yet, but they do have at least one plan for a chunk of the prize. “For now, I think we are just going to put this into savings and plan for retirement,” Hartsock added. 

The winning ticket was sold at Quick Stop West at 1701 Main Street in Atchison. Mega Millions plays every Tuesday and Friday, with tickets starting at $2!
